See what I mean?
This is Dane and our niece Tylee. She really REALLY likes him. She just forgets sometimes.
Well, so I can always remember the day we found out, here's the story.
First of all, I have to say that I know, without a doubt, that this pregnancy is a blessing from God. He answered my prayers. When I first saw the positive pregnancy test, I immediately felt my Heavenly Fathers love for me. I felt so blessed. I don't ever want to forget that this sweet baby of ours is a gift from God and an answer to our prayers. This child will always be our reminder that we have a Heavenly Father who knows, loves and cares about our family.
So, it was the first week or so of January, a Thursday. I was patiently waiting the days and weeks to take a pregnancy test to see if we were actually pregnant. I've taken a few pregnancy tests in the past and was always a little disappointed after each one to see it come out negative. Well, I really didn't want to get my hopes up just to be disappointed, so I was just being totally cool about it. I was so cool about it I decided, I'll just take it and get it over with while Dane is at basketball. No need to have him here just to see another negative pregnancy test. He walked out the door and I walked/ran to take the test. SURPRISE! It was positive! I couldn't believe it. Like seriously, I didn't believe it. I felt bad for taking it without Dane there. I had to wait two LONG hours before he would be home. I sat in unbelief waiting for him. The longer I waited the more excited I got and the more I started to believe that maybe I really was pregnant.
I left the test sitting out on the counter for Dane to see when he got home. He walked in the door and I was sitting on the couch trying not to jump out of my skin with excitement. I asked him how basketball went. While he was talking, I decided I couldn't wait any longer. I got up and walked to the bathroom and told Dane to follow me. I pointed to the test sitting on the counter and I think he immediately knew. He said, "Swear?????" (don't forget that's my nickname, he didn't swear) He had the biggest smile on his face. He saw the test and got so excited! We gave each other a BIG hug and just kept saying "No Way!" "I can't believe it!" We sat and talked forever that night about our baby and how our lives would change.
I may or may not have taken 3 or 4 more pregnancy tests after that night... just to be sure. :) We scheduled our first doc appointment with Tracy Winward for 2 weeks later. We love her! She has been so great. We've heard the heartbeat twice now and get to have our first ultrasound on April 30th. Things are going absolutely GREAT!
Needless to say, we are super excited. The time is going by so fast! I'm going on 18 weeks right now... almost halfway there already!
